| In August 2010 I took a holiday in Llandudno with Great Rail Journeys. It was a great holiday and these four video clips were taken on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. This is a rack and pinion railway with a mix of steam and diesel power. We were fortunate enough to be on a steam train. The above video is an shot of Llanberis Station. | The above video shows a diesel powered train descend the mountain from one of the passing places. If I remember correctly we had stopped to allow that train to pass but also to take on water. Also note the very impressive view from the train. | ||
| After our arrival at the mountain top station another steam engine 'Enid' starts its descent to Llanberis. Note the arrangement of the cylinder and piston rods. Definately different from a standard steam engine. | On our way to the summit we were told that from the top of Snowdon you could see five kingdoms. "Wales, England, Scotland, Ireland, and the Kingdom of Heaven". A very exciting prospect. Unfortunately, as you will see from the video, you couldn't see very much at all! | ||
